The Fantastic Farmyard

Three animals were sitting together. Each was either a goat, a chicken, or a horse. There may have been more than one of each of these, and there may have been none of these, but these were the only possibilities.

There were also three magic apples.

• If a chicken eats a magic apple, he turns into a goat.
• If a goat eats a magic apple, he turns into a chicken.
• If a horse eats one magic apple, he remains a horse.
• If a horse eats two magic apples, he becomes a chicken.

After the three apples were eaten, there were two chickens and a horse.
